Estimation of flood influencing characteristics of watershed and their impact on flooding in data-scarce region

The research is focused on the integrated use of satellite remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), and extensive field observation techniques for a better understanding impacts watershed characteristics hydrological processes floods. It aims to create methodology assessing flood hazards risk regional local scale so that protective measures can be designed. Floods have occurred in study area many years, causing serious damage infrastructure civic structures. present evaluates linear, aerial relief morphometric parameters using Cartosat-1 digital elevation model (30 metres) along with curve number influencing Vishwamitri River’s sub-watersheds. prioritizes five sub-watersheds as high, medium, low based their compound value, result, needs highest priority mitigation measures. I IV been categorized into high priority, II V moderate sub-watershed III priority. geologic stage development erosion proneness quantified by hypsometric integral bearing value 0.04, indicating landscape monadnock phase evolution indicative marked old basin’s evolution. Moreover, ability rain-on-grid at simulate events predict flood-prone areas, considering multiple rain gauge data, which will facilitate more accurate inundation where ground-based observational data are unavailable shown.
